Narendra Modi insulted India's soul by belittling 'Village Woman"

Narendra Modi in the Delhi Rallly on 29th Sept, 2013 has not only insulted 'Village Women' but 'women" and the real India which lives in villages. The kind of distaste reflected in his address is very unhealthy for a country which lives in villages and takes pride in being associated with villages...... I am a proud village man.

On Krishna Janmashtami

Colour of Terror: Terrorist's RED vs Govt's Saffron!!

Is Centre's job just to forward warnings, asks BJP's Sushma Swaraj

Is Centre's job just to forward warnings, asks BJP's Sushma Swaraj
New Delhi: In Parliament today, Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj was fiercely critical of the government for not being able to prevent last evening's terror attack in Hyderabad in which 16 people were killed and nearly 120 injured.

Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde updated Parliament on the terror strike with a brief statement that shared the death count. However, he did not refer to the intelligence alerts three days ago that had warned of a security threat in cities like Hyderabad. To journalists last night and this morning, Mr Shinde had said that information was shared with state governments.

"Is that where the Centre's responsibility ends?" Ms Swaraj asked. "Should you not have worked with the government in Andhra Pradesh to prevent the strike?"

She rejected the Home Minister's explanation as "routine" and said that while political parties must work together to combat terrorism, the "soft approach" of the government makes this impossible. "The country wants a commitment from all of us to fight terror," she said. (Read: Shinde's full statement in Parliament)

Mr Shinde has said outside parliament that "no intelligence was given that a particular area will be affected. A general alert was given in the past two to three days to the whole country."

NDTV has learnt that the intelligence alert this week listed Hyderabad on a list of cities that could see a terror attack. The warning also said that Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and the Indian Mujahideen were reviving activities in India.

As far back as October, the Delhi Police had warned that Mujahideen members who it had arrested had confessed that they had surveyed Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad for a possible terror strike upon the instructions of Riyaz Bhatkal, the founder of the Mujahideen. Despite that information and the intelligence warning this week, security was not stepped up at Dilsukhnagar.

Utter Shame or Gutter Fame? Alleged Rapist is Vice-Chairman of Rajya Sabha...Upper House

So we have new kid on the block, joining hall of fame of alleged rapists is none other than the Vice-Chairman of Rajya Sabha.  Upper House.....Hall of Fame of democracy.....let the law take its own course, but is there any moral stand for him to continue even for a minute more...on tax-payers money............ but Congress will do nothing......a party whose Governor was caught in the act inside Rajbhawan, a Party whose spokesperson's alleged video is inside his High Court Chamber and so on......BJP is no better....porn surfing MLAs inside Assembly......I think even a toilet paper will appear cleaner than character of our such politicians.....

Only man convicted of Suryanelli gang-rape takes on PJ Kurien
PJ Kurien (file pic)
ThiruvananthapuramThe only man among a group of 35 who was convicted in the Suryanelli rape case has made a statement that could be pernicious for PJ Kurien, the Congress leader who is fighting allegations that he was among those who raped the 16-year-old school girl in 1996.

In 2005, the Kerala High Court acquitted 34 men of the rape of the teenager from Suryanelli in Kerala. A lawyer named Dharmarajan was convicted.  He was sentenced to five years in prison and was granted bail after which he went underground.

He spoke today to a Malayalam TV channel from an undisclosed location in Karnataka.

He said in the interview that in 1996, he drove Mr Kurien, who is the Vice Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, to the guest-house where the gang-rape survivor says she was assaulted by Mr Kurien.

Dharmarajan said that at the time, he was pressured by the Kerala Police not to testify against the Congressman.

Mr Kurien has been exonerated by the Supreme Court; he was not among the 35 men tried for the woman's rape by the Kerala High Court.  But over the last few days, the rape survivor has reiterated that the police did not investigate Mr Kurien long or hard enough because of his political clout.

Her allegations have been made after the Supreme Court set aside the Kerala High Court's order, and asked for a retrial of the rape case to be completed within six months.

The Congress has said that before parliament convenes on February 21, it will decide whether Mr Kurien should be removed from his Rajya Sabha office.

Last week, in an interview to NDTV, Mr Kurien said the charges against him are a political ruse and that multiple police investigations have cleared him in the case.

"I am the one who has been wronged. My conscience is clear and the case is a political one," he said.

Afzal hanging SC verdict: hang 'juvenile' rapist too

SC Verdict on Afzal:

"The incident, which resulted in heavy casualties, had shaken the entire nation and the collective conscience of the society will only be satisfied if the capital punishment is awarded to the offender," .

My question is-hasn't Delhi gang-rape shaken the entire nation?? and  "...the collective conscience of the society will only be satisfied if the capital punishment is awarded to the offender," ....

Governments should do a referendum for this so called juvenile rapist- killer and I am sure.... the collective conscience of the society will only be satisfied if the capital punishment is awarded to the offender," .......

Supreme Court dismisses petition to transfer 'Amanat' case out of Delhi

Supreme Court dismisses petition to transfer 'Amanat' case out of Delhi
New Delhi: The trial of five men accused of murdering and raping a student on a Delhi bus last month will not be shifted from Delhi, the Supreme Court ruled today.

Defence lawyers had argued that the overwhelming public anger in the capital over the heinous assault is influencing the government, investigators and the judiciary, and that the five accused are not likely to get a fair trial in Delhi.

The five men, who face the death penalty if convicted, are being tried at a special fast-track court in South Delhi. The petition to relocate the trial was made by Mukesh Singh, the man who was allegedly driving the bus when Amanat (NOT her real name) was assaulted along with her boyfriend.

A sixth man who was arrested after the attack claims he was 17. The Juvenile Justice Board yesterday accepted that he is a juvenile offender, ensuring that he will be tried separately. The family of the student who died two weeks after she was raped described this as a serious compromise of justice. "The punishment should not be less even if he is a juvenile. They all deserve the same punishment. They all should be hanged," said her father to NDTV yesterday.

The teen faces a maximum sentence of three years in a reform facility. The police has described him as "an equal participant in the crime" and believes he was the most depraved of the six men who allegedly raped Amanat.

The endless horrors of the attack pierced India. In the streets, anger assimilated with grief in mass protests that demanded better policing for women and stricter laws to punish sexual offenders.

A committee of legal experts set up by the government to review existing laws submitted its report to the government last week. Headed by retired chief justice JS Verma, the commission has not recommended the death penalty for rapists, but has suggested sweeping and powerful changes to enhance punishment for sexual offences.
